Have you checked with the airline to be sure that you can take 2 cats as carry-ons? Most only allow one. Also the airlines are not always reliable about allowing a carry-on pet. I've heard of some people stopped at the gate even though they have been CONFIRMED as having a carry-on pet.

I think the answer lies in whether or not you CAN transport both cats on the plane and the type of personality your cats have. My cats have always been too fearful of new situations. The trauma of an eight hour flight and then a new "territory" would unglue them. I would vote for leaving them behind unless you are confident that they will adjust quickly to the new situation.
