I also want to recommend a book that I found recently for all those who are traveling long distance with pets. It's called "Traveling With Your Pet, the AAA Petbook". It has a national listing by state of pet friendly hotels, motels, parks and attractions, as well as a listing of vets and emergency clinics by state (and also Canada). But it really isn't a tip book, more of a resource guide.
