Today I took Gracie to the vet to get her rabies shot. I expressed my concerns about VAS, particularly since Gracie is missing one leg already (right front) and can not afford to lose another if she develops VAS. The incidence of VAS posted on the VAS task force web site ranges from 0.01%-0.1%. However our vet said the incidence is much lower and is much more likely to be caused by the FELV vaccine than the rabies. In fact, the 2 cases I have heard of recently from friends were due to the FELV vaccine. Does anyone know where this newer information comes from? There is so much confusion over this topic!

Thanks,

ellen
