::The incidence of VAS posted on the VAS task force web site ranges from 0.01%-0.1%. However our vet said the incidence is much lower and is much more likely to be caused by the FELV vaccine than the rabies.
The incidence is THOUGHT to be between 1 in 1,000 cats and 1 in 10,000 vaccinations. WE know it is lower than 1 in 10,000 because a lot of cats just die of it and some (a lot) of Vets do NOT report it! Mine did not and several people on my VAS list's vets did not!

:According to Dr. Wendy Brooks, one of the ways that VAS was identified was because their was an increase of this type of tumor in areas where feline rabies vaccination became a new requirement. It seems fairly clear to me that rabies is implicated, although to what extent, again, I believe no one knows.

Kristy is right on this, BUT Rabies AND Leukemia and in at least a few cases Distemper HAVE been implicated!
