I would encourage all cat families to go to catshots.com and read, read, read. There are links to studies and papers by the Task Force as well as research universities across the country. Don't depend on second had information or misinformation from others, follow the advice/motto of the VAS Support Group EDUCATION BEFORE VACCINATION. Educate yourself and then discuss your cat's lifestyle with your vet - maybe your vaccinations can be changed. Indoor only cats can greatly decrease the number of vaccines as well as stretch the intervals between boosters - PLEASE NEVER INTRODUCE NEW CATS INTO THE POPULATION BEFORE TESTING AND QUARANTINE!!! My cat developed VAS from a leukemia vaccine he didn't need to begin with. Current research is tending to show that it's not only adjuvant that stimulates sarcoma growth - any injection could cause such reaction in a genetically predisposed cat (not all cats CAN develop VAS) though I am not aware of DOCUMENTED cases of either fluids or insulin causing sarcomas. Vaccines seem to be "more likely culprits", but antibiotic injections and cortisone have been guilty in at least a few cases. So please, go and get educated.
